Remember: popcorn is corn. You can always soak it overnight and boil it for 20 minutes - it will become like a hot cereal. I recommend it if you have a lot of kernels that just won’t pop.

Don’t be so sure that it’s only 2%. My popcorn machine takes in 1/2 cup of kernels and spits out nearly 2 tablespoons of unpopped kernels. That’s 25% unpopped! As for microwave popcorn, it might depend on the microwave oven.
I disagree. In many cases, over 20% of kernels don’t pop. That means that if you pay for 1kg of popcorn kernels, you’re really only buying 800 grams... unless you find a way to make use of the “old maids”. Plus, in a world where some people struggle to find food, waste is just unacceptable.
