I have not seen it, but I watched the series. I’m guessing a lot of the significance of El Camino will be lost on you since you have not watched the series. The movies sounds like a continuation of several of the characters from the show, picking up where they left off.

Kenny Lofton. I loved watching Kenny Lofton play baseball even though he never played for a team I followed.

Once you get ready to play a major power, I’d recommend Italy. They were a weak power for real in WW II, but in HOI they have quite a few geographical advantages that you can take advantage of once you straighten out their armed forces. To this day Italy is the only faction that I’ve won the game with.
