Why would IP creation be more abundant on Mars than Earth?

It would have to get really really really really, really bad on Earth to make Mars look like an attractive option.

Which comments?

Don’t know, but she does reportedly have XY chromosomes. To me that is decisive.

If she had XX chromosomes I would be right there with you, but my understanding is she has XY chromosomes to go along with her very high testosterone levels.

How does pumping massive resources into getting colonies for a tiny percentage of the overall population up and going on a distinctly hostile planet do anything to ensure the survival of the species?

YES

How do we do that in 100 years?

I honestly don’t know what you mean when you say we can just conjure up what value means from thin air.

I’m guessing it’ll be sexy for the first 3-4 weeks, then the new Martians will be looking for a return ticket.

The last point is one that gets overlooked a lot. Outside of the biological and physical limitations, there simply is not an economic reason to be on Mars. European colonization of the Americas is often used as an analogy to space colonization, but there was an obvious economic incentive to colonize the Americas.

The problem is there is zero economic incentive to be on Mars. America was settled largely by the allure of cheap land that could be used to grow crops and make money, or to trap animals and sell their fur. Or further south by both that and the allure of precious metals.

no

I agree with your overall point, but insinuating that the OP (or others) are worried about overpopulation for racist reasons without any evidence to support that accusation is irresponsible.

Great piece George, as usual. The other thing you don’t mention about the viability of Mars colonies is that there is no economic incentive to go there. While of course economic incentives don’t motivate everything we do, the complete lack of economic incentives of living on Mars makes the prospect of long term

The prologue is another 3-5 hours long, but it's worth it.

We can agree that harassment is wrong without engaging in a fiction. If a well muscled guy wears a muscle shirt (or no shirt) on his stream where his viewers are predominantly female, we all know why. There is no reason to pretend otherwise.

Is it that nice?

If you were trying to be insulting you could have said, “I’ve seen it. Because every one of these damned movies tells the exact same story.”

I also think it’s harder to hold the viewer’s interest visually with a gun fight compared to swordplay. The Crazy 88 fight is long, but Tarantino could show off so many different styles of fighting throughout that it helped keep it fresh. Particularly when he combined that with such interesting stunt and editing
