The United States is the least of China’s worries. Neighboring countries in Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Middle East have stopped importing all Chinese food and agricultural products. That’s a vast overreaction, but the truth is those countries don’t have robust food safety monitoring or inspection capabilities,

It’s a difference in food supply chain. in the United States, there is a 100% inspection rate of every animal/meat item that goes on the market. It’s the law. And still, occasionally disease outbreaks happen, but the occurrence and magnitude are controlled. That’s not the case in other countries.

I was skeptical of this too, but read the author actually had an advanced degree in Chinese culture and language and had lived in China for 6 years. Which makes it even more strange that her defense was something bizarre like “immersed herself in Chinese culture.” Give your legitimate credentials.

The only difference I can think of is that for the most part, fur animals are raised only for their furs. Leather is taken from mainly cows, although sometimes other animals who are already slaughtered for meat. The leather is a by-product and the animals are not being raised solely for their hides.

I don’t understand this law. No one can donate/sell vintage furs? So furs from decades ago should just be thrown in the trash? How does that help anyone or animal?

then you start to have huge conflicts of interest problems, if they’re still royals.

yes. kind of strange this all happened after the luxe, televised wedding and huge mansion renovations paid for by taxpayers...

He seems like he’s desperately trying to compensate for.... something....

Oh it definitely it. You can find all the receipts on the internet. Most of it is public record or was posted on public social media.

Ugh... he’s such a douche. She took some time from their actual DL relationship because she was having a mental breakdown after the Olympics and he took it as she dumped him forever (because he can’t listen or be alone for 5 minutes) and immediately found the ONE person he had skated with before (for 2 months, when

I actually love deciding what to wear everyday - just leggings and a sweater?, athleisure wear if I’m going hiking or to the gym, dresses and suits for the office, jeans and T-shirt on the weekend, designer dresses and a clutch if I’m going out. Plus, different earrings and necklaces and my makeup (or not). If I had

Why is the Duggars having babies considered celebrity gossip and news? Spare me.

I don’t know the details of Jezebel’s coverage, except what I’ve read here, but I’ve followed this story from a moderate interest perspective. I heard Jane Mayer on Fresh Air. I think she brought up some salient points and she also tried to make some difficult points salient. Basically I’m left at: Al Franken did some

This app sucks. I look at the city that I live in in Turkey and see lots of food offerings but when I click on them, they only offer places in Istanbul, Europe, or the west. So.... where are these places in my city that supposedly exist? Badly constructed app.

This cost $220? WTF?

No mention of the fact that Ashley and Michael just welcomed their first child? Despite all of this complication and, imo, unaddressed issues going on in the background, now there’s a brand new baby that’s been brought into the middle of it all.

I like the stone, even if it’s probably too big to wear everyday. But I don’t like that setting. I guess the good thing is, if the marriage lasts, she can always get it reset in 5 or 10 years to change the aesthetic.

I went to the #apollo50 screening on the national mall this evening and it was amazing. From Kennedy expressing that the more we know, the more we realize we don’t understand, to the moon launch and successful return, all played out against a screen of the Washington Monument, it was amazing.

unfortunately I went to a festival a few weeks ago and we were starving but planning to go elsewhere for dinner after the afternoon, so bought a funnel cake to split just to stave off hunger. Reader, they burned the funnel cake (not joking, it was more black than not). We had prepaid, as one does at a food truck, and

No. You told me nobody who follows the keto diet ever binges or overeats or doesn’t adhere to its tenants (“potatoes are forbidden!”), but then you said that you do eat outside the diet and many diets can be affective, which is what I had originally said. I’m not sure why YOU are determined to continue to attempt to
