for alternatives, I prefer Carbon Copy Cloner and Transmission over Crash Plan and Utorrent. CCC is completely donationware with great features and the fact that you can make a bootable/restorable backup to a drive is awesome. Transmission seems to have a cleaner interface though it doesn't have RSS support…

google docs works well enough. I think they ironed out most compatibility issues with formatting when exporting to doc files. if not, there's always office on the web with a free live account.

whitson, have you done the "chrome os only" bit before? as in using it exclusively for a time period to test it's viability as a standalone desktop experience. I don't remember if you only did a review or not. would you be interested in that kind of project?

I heard this countless times and many report this trick works: just add to cart, it shouldn't check until checkout. when you add a payment card, add a US address. it doesn't check. and you should be able to complete your purchase.

definitely use the +blahblah@gmail.com route. one less login to worry about and is easily monitored with a filter.
