Here's my (feminine) take.

I love the art—there are some really iconic images in Civil War. And I love that it had real repercussions throughout Marvel comics for years—they didn't just pretend it away because it was an unholy mess.

Marvel could for sure, Sony could probably post up Divergent-like numbers just by stumbling into the thing a significant portion of the market is hungry for.

Except it's audience that will turn out en masse for female-driven stories even when the material isn't top shelf (see also: Maleficent, Hunger Games, Divergent, Twilight). And Marvel just got a 44% female audience into a movie with a talking raccoon and a space ent. I think they can figure out how to sell a

This is a clearly cynical, political ploy by Sony to steal some thunder from Marvel while they're having yet another banner Monday morning and I don't care. If it gets me a female-lead superhero movie, I don't care. Just someone make something, soon-ish, please.

If it's the one I'm remembering with Uma Thurman, it's fucking awful.

Isn't that pretty much the plot of My Super Ex-Girlfriend?

I do need something to fill the "dirty people in leather killing each other with swords" vacancy created by Game of Thrones ending for the year.

I'm more immediately worried about Ellaria Sand surviving King's Landing.

Or because maybe Jon wasn't Ned's to legitimize…

One thing I will give this half-reboot of this show credit for is that they are making an effort to use the stuff established in the terrible episodes. They're not just retconning/ignoring everything. As someone who stuck it out, I appreciate seeing them turn some of that stuff into more meaningful reference points.

I have a couple questions and one thought (my daily thought-quota has been reached):

This is the most I've liked Skye since ever. She was pretty great when calling Ward a Nazi. I'm not convinced they have the moxie to see Ward-is-a-Nazi through and keep him a villain, but it would make for a more interesting dynamic going forward if she legit hates him for his betrayal and he spends all his time

I don't know, there have been a lot of rumors about Bryan Singer's sketchy parties for a long time. This is more likely to confirm everyone's worst suspicions.

Things that would be cool:

After Stan's shirtless scene, I thought that this time next year all the 50 Shades moms will be bitching that he didn't play Christian Grey.

Oh Sky Cake. Why do you taste so good?

Restraining orders at Jos. A. Bank are currently earn three, get served the fourth one 70% off.

It doesn't cost anything to keep Matt Bomer looking so handsome. It does, however, cost to keep him from bailing to make more movies.

Granted, he's not wearing that costume, but I've seen Whedon's Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch and they're pretty goddamn great. They look like, basically, homemade superheroes. It's not sleek, it's not sexy, it's barely functional. They look like a couple of broke-ass kids had to suit up with zero resources to their name,
