I was shot in the street and my damn insurance wouldn’t cover my ambulance ride.

Yes. And it’s really awful, because it makes it seem like there are so many more people in the anti-choice camp. I think it’s a question of semantics, really. If you ask someone who thinks abortion is morally wrong whether they’re “pro-life,” they’ll say yes - but that doesn’t say anything as to whether or not they…
I believe that first one is what they call “pro-choice.”
I did not mean to reply to this post but rather the one below it.
And more upsettingly, Korematsu is still the law of the land, so actually “the laws” that the filmmaker refers to are already in place. I also don’t think Muslims are going to end up in internment camps, but we couldn’t do a lot to stop the government if it decided it wanted to put them there.
This always strikes me as the kind of thing that shouldn’t be a criminal offense but that you should be able to sue the living shit out of someone for in civil court.
Tell me about it - mine’s a Holocaust survivor!
I actually retract my former statement. I hope you wind up with a kid you don’t want.
Well I certainly hope you never have any. I would hate for someone so ignorant and elitist to pass those views on to others.
I’m not sure how “do you” applies here. I explained a negative experience I had and how it impacts me to this day. I don’t have children and I don’t celebrate Christmas (or Hanukkah, because I am an adult) so I’m not really “doing” anything.
Poor people shouldn’t have children? I now definitely agree with Ladyheatherlee’s assessment that your children will grow up to be assholes - but certainly not because of the amount of money you spend on them.
I’m with you. I’m an only child and my father made quite a lot of money when I was a kid, but there was NO love in my house at all. Every Christmas/Hanukkah I’d get a pile of stuff and it was all really nice, but it made me feel so empty and lonely, from the very beginning. Worse, I now don’t know how to show…
How much money do YOU make that $200 per kid makes someone a “cheapskate”?
You actually can’t even get a medical abortion until 6 weeks. I knew I was pregnant like, THE SECOND it happened and I tested pregnant the day of my missed period and they still made me wait 2 more weeks before they’d even see me at the gyno.
This inspired me to go home and make a grilled cheese with mayo. Muenster, roasted Brussels sprouts, and black garlic. Not bad!
YES. I am not married and have been alive for less time than you have been married, but I was just about to say this. This is exactly what my mother’s “friends” did to her when she divorced my dad and it broke her heart. Worse, they all glommed on to my dad’s new girlfriend simply because she represented part of a…
Yeah, agreed. I’m in Queens and while I’m a little concerned about health insurance and birth control, but I know I can always go to Planned Parenthood.
That’s not entirely true - my grandmother can’t read, but she isn’t American and didn’t make it past 3rd grade because of the war.
I can say in all honesty that as someone who has never lived in a city of fewer than 4 million and only has relatives who are college educated and live in similarly sized cities, I have been genuinely ignorant of how poorly educated people are in parts of this country until recently. It wasn’t willful ignorance - I…
