I’m interested in something similar but it isn’t going to happen. I decided a 10 foot cutaway does the same thing as a highroof but better. More cubic feet and straight vertical walls.

Exactly! Cut emissions, cut fuel costs, increase versatility, reduce repair costs, why the fuck wasn’t this a thing a decade ago?!

I never understood the whole “I don’t want a minivan because of my masculinity” thing. But I think this design could change that argument. Kind of a Ford Flex/GMC Acadia minivan...thing. I dig it.

I always felt the Volt was the perfect setup - enough capacity to run electric for commuting / running errands around town, but no range anxiety or waiting to recharge for long trips.

They haven’t updated the car in 10 years now (along with Charger). They sell them because a lot still buy them and they’re cheaper to produce than most cars (due to the lack of R&D costs). It is the last large American V8 sedan left.

Fiat/Chrysler/Whoeverownsthemnow paid off their R&D and tooling for this platform literally decades ago. Every 300/Charger they sell now is pure profit.

I think (hope) that this is what was actually meant by that comment. If you can afford the car in cash you can afford it, from there you should finance it if you can get a rate low enough that your expected returns in some other investment vehicle will outpace the interest.

So, then the answer is to do what south east asia does and that is get a 125 cc-250 cc motorcycle or a get a street legal scooter and drive that.

This. There is no silver bullet until we figure out fusion in “50 years” lol. One of the biggest hurdles to any green push is the green movement themselves. There’s always the hardcore activists who say wind turbines kill to many birds, Mining for batteries is too bad for the environment etc. They’re chasing Read more

If I buy a car for 20k, or even 80k, then I have another 80 laying around. Simple, do not live beyond your means. Praise to you if you invest that money, but most of the people do not and it does not change the fact you always loose out on leasing.

It doesn’t take a Warren Buffet to invest that money and earn a return beyond the interest rate on a car loan”

How many people leasing Kia Optimas and “murdered out” Silverado Customs(pick your stereotype) are doing this though? Almost none.

You’re projecting financial literacy onto a vast percentage of the population Read more

Yes there are trade-offs, but this is not a good example. Fossil fuel-generated power plants kill about 15x more birds per kWh than wind turbines do. That is, bird deaths are not a trade-off for wind power, they’re a *massive advantage* relative to fossil fuel generators. This particular talking point is not just Read more
