I suspect the real reason they went with in hub motors is that at some point down the road (if they can make it long enough to mass produce) it will be cheaper to build than a dual motor design that requires controlled differentials and articulated axles, but I’m really spitballing here.

Why not? Look how small the actual lit part of a Model 3 brake light is.

They should have just integrated them into the panel gaps:

The Motor Trend article on the cross country off road trip suggests that it is.

It looks like a very forgettable car, which explains why it looks like the owners forgot they had one for 40 years.

It would be kinda funny if it went the other way. Imagine some guy walking into a Best Buy with a load of laundry to take a washer for a spin (literally), and repeatedly telling the salesperson he doesn’t want the Truecoat on the drum.

Does making the G-wagen electric make it more douchey, or less?

The price isn’t what it used to be. It’s now costs nearly 2x what it did when it first came out, so it’s playing it a much bigger sandbox now. And that’s before you look at the Nismo version which now starts at $210k. That’s 911 Turbo S money.

Agreed. All they really need to do is a refresh on the interior, add Carplay/Android Auto and maybe a new front fascia.

For most people, a car is an appliance, and if they can buy a car the same way they can buy a washing machine, then they will. It’s not like people do a test wash before they do.

It’s a good thing Aston is spending all that savior money on racing and a new crib rather than product improvements. I was worried they might actually manage to compete with the Italians and Germans.

This could be kinda cool. Just go out and nail the tightest parallel parking job possible and you’d be able to use that move for every spot you can fit in forever. I dig it.

That’s probably why he looks so sad in the render too. It gets worse the longer you look at it.

Even so, having to stop twice is not great.

It’s an interesting idea, but is the Phoenix area really the best place for this? Weak public transit, massive urban sprawl, and extreme summer temps are big obstacles to people staying out of their cars.

Never underestimate the interweb’s ability to make any comment section political.

LOL! And you thought the understeer was bad before...

The lead photo is the right answer. Grab a Golf Alltrack and start swapping out Golf R bits. You could over time build yourself a Golf R Variant with mostly OEM parts!

I know right? One of the many project ideas I;ve had (but will likely never do) is to grab a Golf Alltrak and turn it into a Golf R Variant.

Not a big aftermarket base for modding it though.
