Valid point. I suppose low sales volumes for convertibles has a lot to do with that as well.

I’ll bet most convertible usage is short trips anyhow.

It doesn’t get more boutique than a Vanderhall (I actually had the Edison in mind when I excepted boutique marques). Also without the ability to put the roof up it doesn’t even really “convert”. I think you can probably put a panel over your head like a golf cart but that’s not really the same thing as a convertible

Those frame rails disqualify it as a convertible in my opinion.

Oh I’m sure top down cruising at speed reduces range, but I would imagine if you have a convertible like this, it’s not your only car anyway.

I’m honestly surprised there aren’t any convertiblele EVs already (outside of something by some random boutique marque). Something like an electric ?Mercedes SL or E-class cabriolet would make sense. I guess technically the electric Wrangler and Hummer will count, but there should really be something else out there.

Wait till they find out groups of people have had chiefs all over the world.

Fair point, but it’s not a native american term. I guess in the end if people are going to be upset about it, it’s probably not a good choice, even if the word doesn’t reference native peoples.

Yeah, and people wonder why they are pissed off.

Buick has Rainier but I like this idea. Naming Jeeps after mountains or other rugged geological features makes a lot of sense.

Shit did they do that crap chant too? I thought that was just a Braves fan thing.

Using an arrowhead as the logo and name of their stadium certainly doesn’t help.

In this case it does. Here it demonstrates just how overpriced this thing is.

My dad used to have a JK Chief, which made me think of it.

As you point out, they are mistaken. It comes from middle English which borrowed the term from Old French. Both languages were in common use before Europeans crossed the atlantic (excluding Leif Erikson’s journey).

You are forgetting the end zones, which adds another 20 yards. This 7 field length makes the distance even closer to half a mile. Although I am never sure if the length comparison includes them or not.

Call it the Chief. There was once a Cherokee Chief so it could be a nod to the original name without using a term that is specific to any marginalized people.

CA absolutely does require front plates.

I had to to google it but apparently you can order a reflective vinyl decal of your plate and use that instead of an actual front plate (in CA).

Amazon seems to be quite content expanding their own delivery network without USPS.
