HandcentSMS for on-screen pop-ups of text messages. Way better than the default messaging app.

I just made the image (multiple files), and plan to burn them to CDs or DVDs. Can anyone tell me whether I need to put certain files together?

If you're concerned about the power, add a weight-sensitive switch where each device goes, and have it kill the power when the device isn't present.

I use a 3 bladed razor with no soap/lotion/&c.. I use the Sensor 3-blade (whatever the name), and to clear the blades, just push it backwards along my face. The only times I have had nicks was using the clipper part of an electric to do the sharp curve of the chin, or when I've hit zits/ingrown hairs under the hair.

I have worked retail for about 12 years. The only time I have ever discounted items is when they are damaged. My father used to work in a commissioned retail store. In stores like that, the sales people aren't paid for feces unless they get commissions. In non-commissioned stores, the less the store makes, the

Allen wrenches are good. They can be used to turn the blades in your garbage disposal - look underneath for a small hole, but make sure you know what you're doing first! I had the maintenance guy for our apartment show me before I went any where near it. DO NOT PUT THE ALLEN WRENCH IN THE DISPOSAL SIDE.

For the CueCat, I found mine on eBay for about $10 with the double PS-2 connection switched to USB, and running as a straight bar code reader. No software for it at all.

I use a contact form. I develop in PHP, so any hosting I use already allows PHP, so the script from RRWH.com is an easy addition for me. No email address shows up.

A post script to my previous comment: how is asking not to receive a card any more culturally/religiously insensitive than giving a culturally/religiously inappropriate card?

One problem some of us have is that we're given what is obviously a *bulk* card. I say this because I have gotten the heavily religious cards before from people who know that I'm not Christian. They're not showing they care, it's the same as a chain letter: they're just sending without thinking about the recipient.

@Invid: if you're using XP, Add or Remove Programs will list by Frequency of Use or Last Date Used. This assumes that the install let XP know.

As far as paying off and getting rid of cards: it's not always the wisest thing. This assumes that you want to have some sort of credit account. When you pay off a card, your debt to credit ration becomes very good. If you close that account, it goes towards bad. An example:

I'd like to see more stuff aimed at Cygwin.

If you put the city names on a thin, rigid disk (in reverse order) and attach it to the hour hand, the clock will be correct, without losing the minute hand, or rotating the clock.

Another thing to keep in mind if you're hearing impaired or deaf: keep a pen and small notepad where your hands are easily visible getting them. That way, the officer can see what you're getting and doesn't pull a gun when you don't respond to them yelling "Stop!"

There are now several services providing disposable phone numbers. I use NetZero's Privatephone ([www.privatephone.com]); it's free, easy. The one drawback is that it's voicemail only, not a connection. However, if you're not sure you want to give out your number to someone, you don't have to call them back if you

As far as the germophobic response: keep your fingers away from your bodily orifices (nose, mouth, &c.) until you wash your hand. Your body is (in general) great at fighting off diseases. Excessive use of antibiotic soaps and such can actually weaken your immune system by not giving it anything to keep it active.

IE (produced by Microsoft, a member of W3C) is handling RSS. <sarcasm>Woohoo.</sarcasm> I can read my feeds in Thunderbird, which means that automatic stuff is all in the same place (email and RSS all go into the same app). If the RSS provider wants their news to be pretty, they just need an XSLT, like LifeHacker
