Doctors do seem to hand opioids out like candy and I know plenty of people who avoid them like the plague for acute pain after medical procedures (myself included) because they’re scared shitless even if there’s no family history of drug addiction.

This might be callous of me to admit but I can’t help but be fascinated when I hear all this ballyhoo about opioids and think how different the narrative was, just a few years prior, when the public believed it was only black people facing the business end of a national drug problem. I covered an opioid awareness

How many times do we have to learn that this man is completely full of shit? He’ll say anything to anyone if they’re sitting in front of him then backtrack later.

Not only are you correct in this instance, but I can’t help but feel like this has been a consistent through-line for our politics since the Reagan Administration: well, we could do the the smart, sensible thing. But that might interfere with our ability to pretend, in a crisis, that we would personally transform into

IIRC the 18% is only up to 7 yards. Further than that, it drops to 6% then 1%.

^^^^This! In addition, it seems that the people who commit these mass shootings often die in the process or kill themselves, so it’s not like arming people in schools is going to deter them.

You have seen these ads right, they’re not exactly coherent or based on reason.

I starred because you said “six month year old”

Cut to nearly two weeks later, and it appears that Trump is also afraid of the NRA. I wonder why?

Endpoint will be the ad that goes “you’ve been happily married for 20 years and now have three kids? But how do you know your 6 month year old baby isn’t plotting your death?”

Sure, the GOP are afraid of the NRA, but the NRA are afraid of basically everything (have you seen their ads? they’re terrified of even walking down the street). So many, many frightened little people....

I have a friend like this. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her stay single for longer than two weeks at a stretch. We’ve been friends for 24 years (since we were 14) and she’s probably been single a grand total of four months in that time. The main result of her inability to stay single is that she convinces herself that

This should be required reading in all high schools. Kids should know what they are watching. If you want to watch porn, fine, but know that not all porn is the same.

I’m assuming this is rhetorical, because I can think of about 10 guys off the top of my head who would love to see a “feminist” sexually abused and humiliated.

The thing I’ve never been able to get past is that the laws in this country exist in no small part to protect upper class white people from the rest of us. Since the government is heavily composed of upper class white people working to benefit their upper class white benefactors, there’s no way in hell they’d allow

It’s pretty common escalator/moving walkway courtesy to “stand right, walk left.” There are even signs in a lot of public transit hubs. But people ignore them and stand left. Those people are assholes!

I’m definitely not leaving the safety of my place in the event of a purge for fear of getting killed myself. But, I fully support some bat hitting for people who block escalators so people can’t walk up or down them. People are trying to get to work or home, please move the fuck out of the way.

I hate that one street in the whole city can throw off it’s reputation. Everywhere other than Bourbon St. is amazing.

Uma Thurman was right when she said weeks ago that Hollywood doesn’t give a fuck about actors or their safety. This made me think of her article.

Well, they could lose the NFC title game to the Saints, in the Superdome, with Brees at QB. And then Brees retires. That might be even better.
