I know a Ferrari bodykit when I see one.

Yup. Of the entire white house, I don’t think he’d lie, so much as evade.

Notice how he didn’t say they were wrong though....

I’m not sure the word “hit” should be used in the same sentence as Suicide Squad. Profitable, maybe, but not hit.

It’s a typo, it happens. No need to get mean about it.

I’m mostly impressed that he managed to offend pretty much every single marginalized group: women, Jews, LGBTQ, etc. While it isn’t here, I’m sure dude has said a few things about POC, too.

not to mention, she’s also the fastest broadcaster out there.

So...it’s like basically every American city, but probably with fewer guns.

Now would there be pushback had McGregor grown up in Ballymun?

Yeah, I lived in Dublin 9 for a year and the people who ran our exchange program told us to be careful and that the area was dodgy. Nobody experienced anything serious. I will say that riding the drunk bus home isn’t the most fun because drunk people do like to fight though.

Sounds to be partly “Don’t you rip on my hometown” and partly “I don’t want to admit my hometown’s dark side, and I sure as hell don’t want foreign media seeing it”

Thompson would have been wise to abide by the time-tested American tradition of only describing your own hometown in terms of its worst neighborhoods.

At the insistence of his editor, the author ruefully removed the following sentence: “Glumly peering into their half-filled bowls of Lucky Charms, each morning, the downtrodden people of Dublin fill their thermoses full of whisky and stagger down to the pub, where they dance jigs and fight each other as the jukebox

I’m from Dublin. The ESPN thing is over the top, but it gets some things right.
Jennifer O’Connell and the Irish Times don’t have to live in Neilstown and Darnadale and Clondalkin et al.
In those places, the violence and tough life is real enough for a lot of people.

Overall the writer seems to be just helping McGregor

So are there no good tattoo shops in Dublin, or did he get those done before he had money? That’s some pretty fucking horrendous ink.

No great singer keeps the voice forever, but many sustained long careers working around it and modifying their style (which is itself work). The most obvious examples are Rosemary Clooney and Frank Sinatra - both of whom sold out concerts to the end, though their voices weren’t what they’d once been.

Same! No snark at her either. Its ok to not want to dance around for an hour anymore, just write it out completely then. This “I would rather be doing anything else” dancing is just cringe-worthy.
