To be fair his earlier work did not belie his talent. To imagine the Joker could be played by the same person that was the star of A Knight’s Tale does take a stretch. Kudos the casting director.

A villain that only wants chaos is the perfect villain because there is no reasoning with them or appeasing them because what they want is for someone to desperately try in vain. It’s like discussing opinions with trolls on the intern... oh.
