Who said anything about them being "fine and dandy"? People were pretty upset at the Chipotle and Target incidents — but they didn't completely freak out, assuming it was some gang, and have the police show up in force. And no, it wasn't just because it was "The South."

It was covered after the fact, not in advance, because the reporters aren't clairvoyant. The people in that Chipotle didn't see it in the news until after they'd already live-witnessed a group of people carrying automatic weapons walk through the doors. That's how time works, you see.
