Ok, so there’s one touch display in the whole car to handle speed, range, odometer, nav, climate control, and audio? This looks like bad design to me, and would probably be a dealbreaker.

It’s one thing to integrate a huge touchscreen. It’s another thing to put the gauges on it.

So, in a car that has an all glass roof, they put all the important displays on a single large screen on the center column with no overhang shading it, like a dash cluster would have?... I know Tesla has the best engineers in the industry, so they have to have thought of this, but they must have made sure that screen

In earlier articles I said I was hoping this is just for the prototype. Now I rad that is not the case.....I will not be getting one unless there is some kinda HUD they have not talked about yet.

There are a things that just NEED to be analog.

Came here to find my watered down i-Robot style car of the future and I found it. I think it looks like shit.

Am I the only person who really, really hates the touch screens?

No gauges in front of the driver is always wrong unless it’s an Army Jeep. It ruined the BMW Z8 (obviously not completely, but it is a maddening flaw for no good reason), the Panoz Esperante, and was another reason to hate the Prius. The no buttons thing is also taken too far, sometimes people wear gloves and don’t

Speedo and Battery guage. Oh yea, and an odometer.

The iDrive fiasco is exactly what I was thinking of when I saw this. LOL

I think I am probably square in their target market for this car, middle class, aging millennial. Surprisingly, being a petrol-head, I was actually quite interested in this car too, but if the interior is anything like that I would not even consider this car.

The car looks good from the outside and I’m generally excited about the price because it means more people will buy it and in 5-10 years we should hopefully have more choices in electric vehicles - not just from Tesla.

I agree. Remember, BMW tried doing everything via iDrive at first (admittedly, not touch screen) and slowly backtracked, adding in physical controls for the most frequently used items like radio and HVAC.

I’d want to rip that screen off and throw it out the window on a long nighttime drive methinks. Unless there’s a way to dim everything but speedo and range.

I want a speedometer and an analog style dial in my cars. It’s okay if it’s a digital rendering. It not only shows you speed but rate of change in speed. It won’t be a deal breaker but I want one.

Exterior is fine, interior is Yugo spartan. They’re high if they build this without some instrument binnacle for the driver.

The whole no buttons thing is a little crazy to me. Not just in this car, but any car.

So you have to look down and to the right for every last bit of information? Who the hell signed off on that?

what they ‘ought to do is this

This interior is the reason I cancelled my order. I really just need an instrument cluster for ease of use and ease of eyestrain on my evening drives. When I called this morning to cancel, they informed me this has been a major complaint and that there *may* be a cluster on the production model. Nevertheless, I’ll
