As someone who sat 8 hours in the stands at Phoenix, I’m praying for a dry season... that was a rough day. lol

Actually, today a lot of it had to do with the automakers when you consider Toyota led most of the race and had their first Daytona 500 win on top of that.
I really miss the tandem racing. or anytime when the cars were able to really pull up on one another in the draft.
Does it matter that it’s not about the automakers anymore? It used to be about running moonshine, and today it’s not, but that doesn’t make it any lesser.
I can remember when it was about the auto makers, but I’m old...
It's nice to have a great Nascar finish with no big wreck. Thought that was a great race! I was rooting for Truex, but either way, I'm happy with a fun finish.
It was nice to get a Daytona 500 without a huge crash and giving us nice, clean racing.
Holy moly biggity Bobbity now that was racing!
i wish they would ditch the duels, for most of the field they are pointless, just opportunities to wreck a car. either have time trial qualifying or the races, but not both.
If Kenseth wasn’t driving like a rookie blocking Logano, it wouldn’t have been an issue. Matt needs to learn the lesson.
Oh he is one of the greatest. But what stands out with the ones ahead of him, at least in my own thoughts, is being dominant in more than one era of the sport.
Well he’s firmly in the top 5 already. Dale, jeff, jimmie, Richard and the silver fox (although I can be negotiated with on the last one). And he puts up a good case against any of them, racing these days is MUCH more regulated.
You know, I’m not a Johnson fan, but if he can find it in himself to win another championship I’ll say it’s a fair comparison to put him in the top 3 of all stock car drivers as far as skill is concerned. Between his consistency where it’s needed and that team of his that always seems to pull itself out of a hole like…
Basically what ZR2TEN said, the cars, especially at the higher downforce tracks, will bottom out on new or cold tires. They are set up to drive on hot expanded tires, if the tires are too low they will drag. When they crash as soon as any part on the bottom of the car gets pushed out of it’s home it will drag.
Formula 1 added titanium screws to the under-carriage of their cars to intentionally create sparks. Don’t act like this is some NASCAR-only thing.
Jimmy Johnson wrecking? Say it ain’t so. The only less surprising racer would have been Danica “Crash” Patrick.
Front splitter, sway bar tube, cross member, oil pan, exhaust, frame rails, side skirts, truck arms... these cars are basically skimming the track at speed, especially in the corners.
Right, because the same exact thing couldn’t be said about any other racing series with just a change of the amount of time...
I had the exact same incident on Real Racing 3's Daytona 500 special timed event, largely because I was shell-shocked with the way Daytona actually looked while driving it for the first time. As it turns out, they drive on walls.
