I admit to making a mistake in my post. A poem is defined as having "metered verse". Poetry is expressive writing, poems being but one form. The "free verse" is a type of prose; another form of poetry.
It's tricky because the word poetry is almost always linked with the word poem. I too made the mistake in my comment.
