Okay, so I re-watched the Biggles sketch, and it became clear that we just weren't sharp enough at first viewing, and the Pythons' genius is untarnished. It was not a mistake, though the comedy doesn't work if the viewer is not paying close attention — the secretary is depicted as so brainless that she gets it

You say that you repeatedly checked the script to verify the Biggles
antlers mixup was intentional, but are you sure you weren't checking the
*transcript* instead of the original script? Are the original scripts
even available?
