That's interesting to hear. I self publish comics, and I too love the old, wordy Marvel comics and truthfully, those are the types of stories I want to tell. @Edix: I guess the best you could really do would get this info to news outlets and individuals who have people on the ground with phones that are working, and spread the numbers by word of mouth. At least there's something though.

I realize that FFC is throwing out a hypothetical here. I'm a comic book writer/artist, I self publish and I work a day job to keep the lights on. To FFC's point, I get to do my own thing since I'm the one in control, and I find a way to balance what I have to do vs what I want.
