"And Live Free Or Die Hard, while being an ill-advised attempt to take a beloved old action franchise into a PG-13 era, turned out to be more fun than anyone could’ve predicted."

They got some good mileage out of the breakup too - "You had rambled on for 18 pages, front and back!"

OK, you win.

I haven't seen any of these films.

Haven't read or seen any of them as it's not my kinda thing but can imagine reading them with my kids one day.

Creedence Clearwater Revival

Nope. I really did try with that show but I found watching it to be about as a painful as…well you can see where I am going with that.

I haven't, no. Having looked at it on IMDB there I am tempted, given the cast and crew involved, but I don't think that would be enough if there's some teeth tickling trauma going on in it.

Thanks to the traumas suffered as a youngster at the dentist, anything involving teeth pulling sends me over the edge. The episode of my favourite show, The Americans, down in the cellar when he's pulling her tooth out without anaesthetic made me…..oops down I go.

For me, the Krieger and Barry/Dutch stuff is really dragging the season down - it isn't offering anything new or fun that we've not seen before.

I disagree regarding the A-Team, I thought it came very close to capturing the spirit and fun of the TV series. BA was the let-down for me.

Definitely Kill List and Sightseers for me - 2 very different films but equally brilliant in their own way. A Field in England is as an insane film experience as you could get so worth checking out too. Contrary to some others on here, I thought High Rise was an intriguing take on a quite wonderful novel.

I'd agree with this. I also think calling Wheatley's career wildly inconsistent is somewhat harsh - for me he is an inventive filmmaker whose genuine passion for the business shines through repeatedly in his work. It doesn't always fully come together but to compare him to one-note Ritchie is frankly laughable.

I HAVE PEOPLE SKILLS!!

Not sure if I could live in a world where 'Smell You Later' replaces 'Goodbye'

Thanks for this column Mike, thoroughly enjoyed reading it and a beautifully fitting epitaph to boot. Eternal Sunshine remains one of my all time favourites - a hybrid of the daringly complex yet simplistically romantic and Joel Barish is a character I can so easily relate to.

Whilst I wouldn't say I have abandoned them completely, B&S "Peacetime" album was a major disappointment for me, with the exception of Nobody's Empire which is magnificent.

Let me see cock-flavoured spit…

I thought The Crazies remake surpassed the original, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Best show on TV with a Welshman playing an American who is really a Russian.
