R&D is expensive and this also serves to demonstrate demand. No point in bringing an innovative new product to market with only small focus groups to justify it when you can get people to literally fund it via guaranteed pledges.

I don’t see how either Dead Cells or Hollow Knight have advanced the genre. They added a mechanic and have their own battle systems. They’ve put their take on the genre, sure. But what’s the advancement?
Are the incels going to complain about her chest size here too?
She sounds... off...
Did they change her Japanese voice actress too?
This is like saying the Beatles are the most overrated band. It doesn’t actually matter if you’re right or not, because you’re only saying it to pick a boring, tired fight anyway.
Every encounter is just “here’s some dudes, shoot them.”
Will forever be Aeris. Fuck y’all and your stupid lisp.
It’s not really necessary for you to pretend like people didn’t enjoy Depp in this role for many, many years. You aren’t fooling anyone by trying.
It’s an odd juxtaposition in sports that passion and professionalism are expected from players. Something like this wouldn’t happen in tennis since it would be deemed ‘unprofessional’ and yet players are expected to play with everything they have with as little personal encouragement as possible.
I guess my point, if…
I’m right there with you. I wanted to love it, because I generally love Metroidvanias. But I like to wander around them looking for secret stuff. Dead Cells doesn’t really do that to the extent that Metroid does, and it bummed me out.
As others have mentioned, NG+ allows you to beat Lavos in different ways, at different times, which results in different endings.
Even outside of NG+, though, you can still get four different endings: One in which you kill Magus, one in which you spare him (and he joins your party), one in which you do not revive Crono…
Oh how soon you forget how women fighters in Battlefield 1 ruined the game’s realism.
People love girl on girl action except when its not historically accurate apprently.
“You could make the case for having some games run 24 frames as well.”
Simply put it is (or at least was) a popular hairstyle within that demographic.
Tokyo Drift is a fantastic movie, it’s just not...congruent to the rest of the franchise.
When you’re dealing with a platform (Twitch) that is constantly being used for toxic behavior, such as racism, sexism, etc., you need to look at what you develop and ask yourself, “Can this be used inappropriately?”
Pretty much in the same boat here. I got bored, wandered off. Solid game, but I was not overwhelmed with it.
