'82 Cavalier Wagon came a couple years after I did, but was relegated to second car status when they upgraded to the '88 Astro. When we moved to China in the mid-nineties, we had one of three Pontiac Trans Sports in Beijing.

@fintail: That's pretty bad, we're talking a two decade difference here.
@Rufus760: My neighbor has a 300 that looks almost exactly like that, but white instead of blue. He's a nice guy, but Jesus Christ.
@PaperGarbage: I guess not. I saw this headline and thought, "wait, Dan Smith is a national thing?"
@gman1023: I keep telling myself as I read these that had I gotten off my ass and entered, I would have at least sent it to my mom for proofreading before submission (as I've been doing since, oh, the fourth grade). Most people have to know at least ONE English major, right?
Your posts always crack me up Ash, and I'm glad you entered. This description of UK motoring is spot on. The subject is fresh in my mind as I recently logged 600 miles in four days ferrying a friend in and around Oxfordshire in preparation for launching his riverboat (a whole other story, that one). I had reserved a…
@TouchMyMonkey: I can tell you that the 215 old-man horsepower in my F100 feels pretty good (as my wife likes to point out, waaay faster than her Passat 1.8t), and the '60 models weighed less than the '68s IIRC.
@855turbo: Just checked RockAuto, they've got rear struts aplenty starting at $42. I'm guessing the internet has increased rare-car parts availability ten-fold since the late 90s.
Man, this sucks.
They had such a good thing going with the front of the car, why did they have to ruin the back with that pre-bangle bangle butt? And those tail lights look like my solution to the fried OEMs on my old Chevy pickup. I dig the blasphemy of a Buick/Rover v-8 in a lotus, but what has been seen cannot be unseen. CP.
@clank-o-tron: Will that be in this hooniverse or another?
@acarr260: My two sub-4k cars nickle and dime me, but not to death. Slight bruises, maybe. I'd much rather get nickle and dimed than get benjamined by a new car payment.
@parkave231: Wow. Just wow. Heartclick.
@accipiter: Wow. I can't tell if he's drunk, developmentally disabled, or both.
I'd have to agree on the Mazda 3 or Golf, they're both good cars and versatile. My personal preference is the Golf, as I just finished three years driving an '07. I drove a 3 as a rental during that time, and while it was fun, it didn't have the solid feeling that the VW did. Right now my wife drives an '02 Passat,…
@FreeDummy: I've heard my share of those stories as well. I'm quite surprised I haven't ever experienced flying fur from the engine bay, what with all the feral cats in my neighborhood.
@E30fernando: Well, they were college kids, but pretty much still children. 2 of them laughed when I mentioned the site, so I know what kind of people THEY are.
Hmm, I read this story right after my wife called to tell me that there is a large, ornery stray cat hanging out under my truck. He won't leave, despite my dogs trying their best to eat him from both sides, and I'll probably have to move the truck in order to get him to leave. This does not bode well.
@E30fernando: Funny, I was just telling my students about 4Chan last night. They were traumatized.
