I think what happened is they bombed the continental shelf, which then acted as a giant lever which managed to uproot the entire eastern seaboard and propel it 3000 miles to somewhere in British Columbia, where the supply of Canadian actors was better.

Having it be the Sal's from Do The Right Thing would've been false because the precinct in the show does not include Bed-Stuy.
