SLOW CAR FAST = FUN.

If the guy on your left accelerates normally you can outrun them with almost any normal car by accelerating abnormally. It’s not a drag race to 60MPH

I have a question! It’s actually a question someone asked me yesterday (and an example of how grossly over-exaggerated the Twins’ lack of power has become in the car community):

Embracing the torque dip! Love it! You’re the driver who sees a lovable quirk instead of a flaw. You’re the foundation of the diehard enthusiast. I was about to write the 86 off because of the gap, but now I’ve got to try one. If it’s something you can master, I see this as a challenge.

Gotta love the franken motor.

I’m in Colorado which is usually a Subaru hotbed but I realize BRZ attracts a different driver than the usual Colorado hiker/camper. I used to see them all over when they first came out, I wonder if I just don’t notice them as much anymore.

Despite my rhetoric they are definitely not un-loved by me. It doesn’t feel like they are selling well locally though numbers don’t lie I just don’t see many on the street lately.

If the time/space is so short that you need a Hellcat to make the pass, then you probably shouldn’t be passing them there anyway. The BRZ has plenty of scoot if you drop it down one or two gears and get the revs up. I’ve never had an issue passing someone I wanted to pass.

If the BRZ isn’t fast enough for daily commuting and passing cars and buses, you really need to re-evaluate your driving style. WTF, lol.

Seriously, I have always hated convertibles. I don’t mind that they exist, but have just never wanted one. It’s the sole reason I have never owned a Miata or S2000. Now, I have driven them and they can be fun, but I don’t want to own one, especially as my main car.

New Supra - Starting at mid 40k... I don’t care what they say, it’s going to be a 50k car, you wont be able to find one for less than that. I mean, $49,999.99 is still in the 40k range, but that’s the lowest it will be new.

Man i miss that little car. i loved they noise it made those last 600 rpm before the limiter. i didnt care it wasnt powerful. It did donuts, it carved canyons, it could drift and at 138mph it was out of breath but planted. hats off to you for getting that mileage on yours.

...for a second I thought you typo’d KA24.

“The Toyobaru’s engine, however has a crippling torque dip in the mid-range (aka, where all your backroad driving happens)“

In before the, THE CAR IS SO SLOW YOU COULDA BOUGHT A MUSTANG!... oh, wait, too late.

it’s a cliche, but it’s really true that it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than have to drive a fast car slow.

It’s great that you have a 700hp dodge whatever, but those smokey burnouts are expensive as hell and so are the tickets that come from using any more than 20% of those 700 horses on city streets. Which

Yes, I redline it every chance I get. ‘Twas what the car was designed for.

I, for one, completely agree with you. There’s nothing wrong with current car, what-so-ever. Having said that though, I also perfectly understand the desire for more. I just don’t care for it in this car, but I sincerely understand the desire.

Agreed the dip in torque stunk, but in my real world driving of curvy mountain roads in Central Virginia I had plenty of fun sticking to 3rd and 4th gear to keep it in the sweet spot and not speed too much.

If you don’t think the BRZ has enough power, you didn’t come out of the last corner fast enough.
