Drifting is stupid and this website gives too much attention to this small subset of car culture.
I used to hate on drifting too, but after lapping at track sessions for a few years, i got really bored by traditional motorsports. Now I think drifting is awesome. Like surfing it takes something that requires skill and adds in subjective style points. It’s actually pretty rad and I’m sorry that you can’t see it.…
Drifting started in Japan, but it went international a long, long time ago. That said, there is still an obsession…
Good commentary can make or break an event. This is good commentary. I wish they would let them run a little more off the cuff. An aside - Bode Miller makes watching ski racing way better. Such succinct and insightful comments.
The correct answer is Ford Transit Connect.
A drum cycle, of course.
The 4Runner is one of my favorite SUVs and I’m dangerously close to favoring it even over the mighty Wrangler
I live in the midwest.
There are roads near me where a BRZ is plenty of fun. If you live somewhere where every single road (even country highways) are laid out on a grid, you’re screwed. Midrange torque is overrated, narrow power bands are fun, they force the driver to be involved, even at reasonable speeds.
So what benefit is a 400+ bhp car with HUGE tires & brakes on a twisty road? Backroads are fun when it feels like you’re doing something, in a new Camaro putting along at a reasonable speed is boring.
The “you don’t have to speed recklessly to have fun” is EXACTLY what BRZ/FRS/Miata/S2000/etc., fans have been saying…
*Raises hand* Lightly-modded BRZ owner. I can confirm that, in fact, 200hp is enough to have fun. Unless you are traversing the KANC Highway. In which case it’s enough to have LOTS of fun!
Except, no, it would not.
If the Camaro were 500# lighter & not a generally bad car everywhere except the limit, sure maybe then. Alas, the Camaro is still exactly what we all know it to be at its most basic level.
I am pleased that at least one sports car out there is the automotive version of the everlasting gobstopper. You only get 200 horsepower, and 200 horsepower is enough for anyone.
If it really has 335 bhp & weighs 3284#, that’s 500# lighter than a 1LE.
And have a real interior.
And have windows that humans can see out of.
And not look like a Camaro.
By the way, the 200 bhp in the FR-S/86/BRZ IS enough.
So small you could crate it up and have it shipped freight.
what about this post?
If you want to play that game, the top BRZ beat all the FS M3's and would have placed 5th in FS with all the v8 muscle cars. The Camaro is an over-car for the class and was only moved out of FS because owners claimed that they couldn’t keep up with the other FS cars, which last year’s results would argue otherwise.
I think comparing this to the #metoo movement is pretty offensive to the movement that is based around sexual harassment. The grid girls were not forced to do this and they are also being paid to be there as well.
