You really seem to have a chip on your shoulder or some sort of massive inferiority complex and I just don’t know why. The S2000 isn’t in the same class of car as the BRZ/FRS/86.

You’ll never let this drop for some reason. The S2000 was more of an upmarket car when new versus the BRZ/FRS/86, much to your Boxster comparison. I don’t think anybody is stating otherwise and haven’t heard anybody call the BRZ/FRS/86 an “upgrade” over the S2000. It literally has nothing in common with a S2000,…
So yeah about the Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Redline....how did the sales figures work out for those cars? And notice how Mazda never bothered with another turbo Miata again after that MazdaSpeed?
Good. Keep it as it is - if someone wanted more power, they’re looking at the wrong car to begin with.
Are you going to buy one of the said models? Or just come comment on a car website?
Ill be convinced when they actually deliver. What he’s really saying I think is that he sees a market that other automakers have seen: looks fast but isn’t trims for their otherwise boring cars. Just look at lines like Audi’s S line and AMG’s AMG Sport trims. All the show, none of the go. I see Nismo trims on…

Misleading advertising? I think you misspelled “adding value.”
Hmm. I’d wager that the prices listed on the Ecoboost Mustangs aren’t actually attainable by the average shopper and are the result of bundled incentives that nobody actually qualifies for. Misleading advertising is a specialty of domestic dealers.
Tom, you wrote about the perfect car earlier this month (and I snagged one myself). The Chevrolet SS. With the rebate, it checks all the boxes.
You know, a BMW 228i can sticker for over $40k,right? For 240 hp. “Slightly cheaper” would still be well over of $35k, say $36-39k, which would put it nearly $10k more than where the BRZ & 86 are currently positioned. That’s not a good place for Subaru or Toyota.
I see it as a Subaru-badged 370Z, but yeah, same basic problem. Higher cost for all of those mandatory upgrades, and that costs sales.
It’s all interconnected. An OEM isn’t going to add another 100 HP without putting wider, stickier tires on the car. That wouldn’t make any sense. Wider stickier tires have more grip. More grip means the suspension is now over-taxed, which means stiffer spring rates, and fatter sway bars to make up for the added…
It’s not bad logic. It’s understanding what this car is. It’s meant to be a LIGHT, CHEAP, tossable sports car. You add all of the stuff I mentioned (and the stuff you said the STi name entails) and it is no longer any of those things. It adds weight, and it adds cost.
240 WHP is 80 more than the car has stock, or, to…
As Ford is learning with the GT350 class action, cheaping out ANYWHERE can have major negative repercussions.
