I live in Florida and, as you might imagine, we are HAMMERED with political ads on a daily basis.  And if there is one consistent message among all of the GOP ads it is exactly this.  FEAR.  I just said to my wife two days ago, “what the fuck are Republicans so afraid of?!  Jesus!”  Every fucking ad seeks to hammer…

As others have noted, a lot of it is simple projection. But I’d also note there’s also a smorgasbord of other fallacies and psychological functions at work. I think you can break it down to the fact that, right now, the Republicans are acting like bullies, and deep down, they know they’re acting like bullies.
