ooh… an excuse to post The Blow :)

mcdonalds sells a lot of food, but that doesn't mean that it's fine cuisine.

I'm reading the Theology of the Social Gospel (available for free on Google Books — it's good!), and his emphasis on those types of themes is right up my alley.

it's like the focus of these types of artists is pageviews, which'll hopefully make up for all the suckiness.

There's gotta be a word for the publicity/ad business technique of generating sales *only* through the artificial tension resulting from 1) asserting someone's total suckiness (tyler the creator, lana del rey) and 2) a moral claim (freedom to be profane, feminism) that the artist supposedly represents. One person says

I'm reading this in the restroom at my work. People are going to wonder about the dude in the stall for 20 minutes, laughing manically at this thread.

Holy crap, this thread is crazy-long and chock full of lawyer types.

Seriously, that thing changed my life. Those guys were crazy thoughtful in how they laid that thing out — you could drill down within a music category forever … I mean it had sub-sub-categories like "jangly pop" (Murmur-era REM and others), "chamber pop" (Rufas Wainwright, etc) and a whole bunch more.

Tired Narrative
"I'm getting a little tired of the whole narrative"

it's just sorta boring. no one's gonna love you (especially the video) is pretty awesome though …
