Holy s*** the entire book is how much of his life has been based on his love of the band. It's in the freaking title. The author asked him questions like he looked up the wikipedia article on the band a few minutes earlier.

Because the writer of this piece doesn't listen to the Dead/believes in the stereotype without actually bothering to listen. Every question he asked showed how little he knew about the band. Why bother with the article?

Do you understand that the aimlessness is the point as well as a Linklater trademark? Have you seen Dazed and Confused? That films 'plot' is very cliche on paper. It's about hanging out with the characters, music, setting and mood.
