I’ve always used flashers any time I was forced to travel dramatically below the speed limit on the highway (mechanical issue, running out of gas, thick fog, heavy rain) and it seemed that other cars were still moving at higher speeds. That seemed like a good way to indicate slow-moving travel to other cars that

Most of these new SUVs have a much smaller gate than rest of the trunk too, due to the swoopy sporty lines they have. So those online measurements could say a trunk is 48" wide and 36" tall, but the actual door way could only be 40"X28" or something like that. The salesmen tend shut up or stammer through their usual

And you’re also installing a few cupholders for your frosty beverages.

Exactly... NADA said my nearly mint 944S2 with Burgundy interior was worth $6k, $9k, or $35k when I bought it.... I’m sure you can guess what loan value my Credit Union offered.

Yeah, it is very interesting how often even ‘smart money’ people think buying a car with cash is a good idea. Obviously, you need to be able to “afford” the Boxster. As long as you can do that, have good credit, and can get a loan under 2%, it’s stupid to to use cash for the car. A $25k loan, at 1.59% even over 5

Came here to say this. I just bought a 997.1 financed through Lightstream. My rate was surprisingly low, especially for an unsecured loan. I have a buddy who financed a E39 M5 through JJ Best, and my rate was lower than his and he had to go through more hoops to get the money. Lightstream was easy to apply and receive

Agree. I just went through them for a small portion of an older car I just purchased. I could pay all cash but the rates for short terms are really good with excellent credit.

That doesn’t work so well for classic or older cars where NADA may say it’s only worth $5k but the market is dictating $15k.  That’s what makes LightStream great.  As long as you have great credit you can get a great rate on what is essentially an unsecured personal loan.

3rd Gear:

Gas taxes should be higher. Like, much higher.

It calls these drivers “Zoom Zombies.”

The utility trailer I got for $200, have tucked in my back yard, and have lifetime registration on means I do not need to drive a truck every day to work.

Electric E-brakes. It’s a solution in search of a problem. The regular manual e-brake works just fine, and didn’t get in the way when driving.  Aside from the general sense that “making everything electric” automatically makes it better, I don’t understand the rationale.  Also:  makes winter driving less fun.

I stop for gas about a block from my place. The car’s never warmed up yet so I let it run so they get warmer faster.

They just compare dent pictures.

You and me both - but we are not the majority in this country. Most people want to pay nothing, ever. Especially those who actually have the means to pay.

Why? Because he is arguing for better public transportation that will reduce the amount of cars on the road?

Taiwan has been making nice to China for a few years now, ‘cause they didn’t believe Trump would back them in a fight, so the whole “fuck China” thing is not really an issue any longer. We’re a military power in a world that has moved beyond measuring strength in military power, and our economic and diplomatic power

I know this is going to come as a strange concept to you, but this is what some of us would refer to as a “reliable daily driver.” Hear me out for a moment, because I think I may help you see the light...

You’re conflicted about buying an intact 19-year old Lexus (aka Land Cruiser) versus a Jeep of any vintage?
