I see what you mean but I like the fact that the crappy studio apartment elicits a smile from her. That's as much as she can handle and now she knows it. And I think Paul will be okay.

Great points. Despite Joshua's assertion that the show needs to teach us how to watch it, it seems like he's brought some preconceived notions with him already. I understand the frustration when a new episode doesn't exactly build on the previous ones but each new ep to me has been really engrossing in its own way. I

So you're saying "The answer is there has to be some form of punishment"?

I imagine it's possible to know this rationally and still feel the sting when it hits you personally. She even knows enough to reassure Edgar before donning her old lady robe.

That's a really good point about Vernon's fi-dom history. Now that I think of it this really does seem to be a missed opportunity.

I too felt my stomach seize up a little when it looked like Vernon was leaving. And the thing with Paul v. Abobo is (I hope) this means once it's over with Lindsay he will turn his desire to be a father towards somebody who actually likes him.

Lindsay at the beginning of the show was pretty middle-of-the-road. I get the impression she had been wild in her earlier years but thought it was time to settle down. Paul looks like the dictionary definition of 'settle down' and he probably lavished attention on her, however nerdly.

He admits right near the end he knew who Earn was the whole time, so his behavior was likely influenced by his presumed notoriety.

"maybe Craig just wanted to collect a wider context of his experiences in black culture by befriending Earn."

I wonder if Craig was actually hoping to have Earn call him out. Here's a guy who's surrounded himself in Black culture and really wants to 'get it. But you get the feeling that this guy has been like this for years, and everybody around him has just grimaced through his antics without saying anything. Here comes Earn

Was Paul's behavior a passive-aggressive display to get Lindsey to give up the extramarital stuff or was it a genuine, if very poorly executed, attempt to be GGG?

Vernon is somehow my favorite now. How did that happen?

I can't believe she's still in touch with the guy Monroe is based on. Haven't seen the movie but in the book he's an A1 d-bag.

Guilt really did do some interesting work, glad they got a nod, although for my money their 'Further' EP in 96 was their most interesting work.
