Well there is a (kind of confusing) thing where the big bad (Lorthos) hypnotizes her, but then she realizes…something that allows her to break his spell and defeat him. Pike does hold down the fort while she's facing him, but he's just killing "little" vampires; she's the one who has to take care of the boss monster.

"And if they came to me and said, ‘Here’s all the money! Do the thing you love!’ I’d say, ‘You could release it however you want. Bye.’ "

Well all the vamps in the movie can fly. I do like how they dismissed that in the show. "They'll get to the edge of the graveyard and then voom." "They can fly?" "They can drive."

"She thinks my name is Bobby?" "It's possible she thinks *my* name is Bobby"

That…does not sound like an even remotely accurate depiction of what happened in the show. In fact I can think of literally *no* points in the show where she fights vampires "for a man", starting in season 1, episode 1 when she realizes her casual neglect has put her new friend Willow in danger, through to the end of

Do shut your mouth. Conan the Barbarian is legitimately one of the best movies ever made.

"Great. My secret weapon is PMS."

Not really. All he does was bring her a bunch of stakes after she intentionally didn't bring any kind of weapons because she was tying to reject her destiny (or "adulthood" if you want to go with the metaphor). He does help hold down the fort while she goes and takes care of the big bad, but I think you are

Watching random episiodes of Buffy is pretty certain to not really 'work' as an experience (which is one of the reasons the show was so ahead of it's time in the era before widespread DVRs, nevermind streaming). They did some really fun things with changing tone for an episode that you wouldn't really "get" if you

Eh, I enjoyed the movie. It is definitely more on the 'comedy' side of the horror-comedy line, but hey, so is Army of Darkness. While the plot is kind of baffling (I've watched several times and I still have no idea what happened with the music or whatever that allowed Buffy to stop being mind-controlled by Lothos at

"Nothing but love from the reviewers and bloggers because these movies all make a billion dollars and they're too scared to call them out when things suck."

Trump or the guy on the cross?

That assumes that it is agreed that "people from outside the political class becoming president" is "good." Personally, I think that's a terrifying notion: I want the president to have spent a good portion of their lives having studied politics and policy, not ride a wave of populism to an office that they are

If Trump had become a governor or a senator (ha ha ha) I don't think there would have been nearly the impact. Sure Regan was an actor, but he had been a politician (including the governor of california and the head of the GOP) for *years* before becoming president.

Point of order: After being caught paying for prostitutes he was elected *again* by the largest margin in Cincinnati history (at least at the time).

SHAKA-KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!

Umm, that's the joke.

I always do that when I see BvS and then I have to go back and reread when I realize the mistake.

They sure didn't go out of their way to correct the fact that many people thought that he did.

It kind of is. "War on Terrorism" was always a bad idea and led directly to the invasion of Iraq under at best misguided and at worst cynically criminal pretenses. Eliminating the people who planned and executed 9/11 sure, great, but just slapping a giant "terrorist" label on them was even at the time a pretty obvious
