It's the 'celebrity' part that I find alienating. There are plenty of great films and documentaries about racial politics.

Really? You think that an oscar-ceremony fuckup is going to give the movie extra *years* of fame? I just can't imagine that's true. The movie will endure or not on it's own merits/the whims of fame and popularity.

It was a reference to some red carpet interviewer (I think at the golden globes) asking one of the stars of Fences (I think) about what it was like to be in "Hidden Fences" and his subsequent facial expression.
