The MBTA has traditionally been open to people making maps of the subway system: It helps spread their message, gets new riders, and their maps play with scale so much as to be painful to use with other transportation mediums.

If this maps was close enough to be a derivative work, chances are the MBTA would let it

It would be suicide to raise the prices right now. They're competing with Freemium, strong Steam Sales, and the previous generation of consoles for relevance. And they haven't yet made nearly as good a case as previous console generations. Right now is not the time To become even more pricing gated, especially with

I'd contest the "just drop in another $300 graphics card" myth on PC's. If you update frequently? Sure. But you really only need to upgrade every 5 years or so, and by then usually your main chipset, RAM, and other things have moved so far ahead that the only way you're getting that $300 graphics card to be viable

You know what the intent is. If you download knowing there was a glitch in the system or someone made a mistake, it's not legally piracy but it is morally piracy. If you're OK with that, then do it.

I actually had two people at work (at a game company) cheer when they saw I by default went to blog.kotaku.com. The blog view was miles better for regular readers.

I'm glad to see Kotaku turning around a revamp in 2 years, which is significantly faster than their previous revamp, and appears to address more concerns

This is how people acclimate to FPS games as well. It just takes a little time for most people, though some will never become OK with it. The Virtua Boy also took a little while to acclimate to.

Also: Public Policy Polling does not include cellphone-only houses in their polls. And only includes people that actually respond to phone polls. These would be less on the overall tech-savvy side of things.

Getting a job as a video game writer is incredibly difficult. This is a broad generalization, but for every 10 artists you generally get one designer. For every 5 designers, you get one writer. The most likely route in is by helping with the endless churn of MMORPG quests. For that, you need to apply at Turbine,

MAMT. More artistic merit than Twilight.

Eternal Darkness is still one of my favorite games, but it's almost an indie title. The code quality wasn't really there, the cinematics were a joke, interface was clumsy, etc. But it all fell together with gameplay mechanics that were totally unique, a story that had gone crazy, etc.

As a professional game designer, this isn't an open-and-shut case. When I worked at Harmonix on Karaoke Revolution, we started with everything open and available. The theory was that music was an intensely personal thing, to be explored at users own pace. What happened? People played the 3 songs they knew, and

I kept thinking "how do they have photographs of something that is supposed to keep you from being photographed?"

What's the worst part of phone gaming? No dedicated controller. If this also works as a normal droid phone, Nvidia can have my money*.

Most F1 racers use some form of electrical KERS, which is a fancy term for a purpose-built hybrid. With certain F1 rules around the electrical system being relaxed, that's only going to improve.

Why are people so opposed to these things? Whenever an article comes out, it seems like people object to the basic concept of a computer driving a car. That there is something inherently inhuman about a software-driven car.

Note that most of the slow-motion shots are of the skateboard, which CG has traditionally been good at modeling (like cars). The only shots of him are the thumb, which look generated, and the eye, which is decent but not perfect. They eschew any clothes other than the rubber and leather of the shoe, and use nifty

Or maybe, they knew the world *is* going to end, but wanted to make sure we could still see the video they made.

I'm not sure for straight rappelling, but when climbing the barrel screws can be opened if the rope rubs against it in a way that would unwind the screw. It's not common, but it does happen if you're not careful with your setup.

As an occasionally competitive fighting player, I appreciate Capcom releasing cheesy and comprehensive update videos like this. The title update is also appreciated, and the active development means I may pick up a copy of SFxTK.

Don't forget "The Invader." http://elcomics.tumblr.com/
