Yeah. I’ve written that I think players, in exchange for the money and adulation, should probably not do things in a way that makes their fans feel like chumps for being so over-invested in what is, emotionally, an incredibly lopsided relationship. (So, not to beat a dead horse, but I had no problem with LeBron

Off-topic, but I really, really enjoy how fantastically out of place Popovich looks in the photo up top.

...his spectacular NBA career could’ve had a much worse ending.

The worst part about the press release was the fact that heat was written in all caps which is so goddamned infuriating to me for reasons I cannot fully comprehend.

I fucking love Bosh and am sad to see his career cut short, but as the story implies, it is better than dying on the court.

Sure Draymond may be making less than Ryan Anderson, the third part of the Rockets’ Big Three, but can Draymond do THIS? (goes 1-9 from 3 point range, accumulates no other statistics of note)

On the one hand, these are very clever and well-executed.

It’s been amazing to read this thread and see how many people attack you for making the claim that 100% of GSW’s success was due to luck. This is Kinja strawmanning at it’s finest. Don’t worry, most of us who are reading your comments can actually comprehend the point you’re making.

Can someone explain to me how the most irreplaceable guy on that team is somehow replaceable? You can’t just switch out Draymond. How is it that people do not see this?

The luck part is more about the organization resigning a good player in 2012 for pennies, who no one thought would be great, let alone a 2 time NBA MVP, and that in turn creating room for the team to bring in other assets (Iggy, Bogut, etc). Was there anyone who in 2012 who thought Steph was going to be MVP?

This is so spot-on. The Warriors had about 15 things line up perfectly, and only a few of those were due to their own organizational competence. And to keep it going they have to have no one get hurt AND no one depart AND the owners continue to be willing to pay massive luxury tax bills AND all their bargain

If you eliminate max salary but keep the salary cap in something resembling its current form, it makes it much more difficult for teams to load up on stars, especially in the Miami Heat Super Friends/GSW Death Machine style.

And even here, there is a legitimate argument that the union did quite well for players that are not as talented as Curry. Or, stated another way, that although the biggest stars engineered a new system in which they are paid more than before, they were still fairly egalitarian in sharing with mid-level guys. THE

LeBron’s value is probably equal to the value of one whole NBA franchise.

Unions can be awesome without it being the case that every union does well in collective bargaining every time.

Reminds me of the last round I played. Had a good score going but I blew up on the back nine.

See, there are things rednecks and rich assholes can enjoy together.
