Pavement is the “been called underrated by so many people, they’re kind of overrated” of 90s bands. I know that’s a Bill Simmons concept, but it was true of Ben Wallace in the NBA, and it’s true of them, too.

edited to add: I have stronger arguments for an age cap than this, but if we’re going with the “the election cycle should act as the filter” argument, then the first thing that needs to be addressed is the disparity on the other end.

This is hugely important. This country leans (moderately) left. The key is that a whole lot of people who would tip the balance just fucking don’t show up if they’re not inspired, especially in certain battleground states where they’re often facing very frustrating and tedious voter suppression techniques.
