Actually, I'm not sure what you're trying to argue here. The events in S1 are ambiguous enough to keep the audience guessing and interested, but to me and many, many others it was never a question that something else was at work here, something which might be beyond rational explanation. That was and (on rewatching)…
There's a lot more that indicates divine intervention or presence:
It doesn't have to be "blatantly supernatural" (and, if you stay within the show's parameters, it isn't even supernatural, but a "force of nature" we don't understand). Why would it? It was quite obvious to me and many others from the beginning and became even clearer during the following seasons, and I'm an atheist.
You forgot a third factor, which is mentioned in the episode: The potential loss of a constituency in the upcoming election (as threatened by a Quorum delegate). This episode was quite clever in setting up the candidacy of Baltar against Roslin. It actually started in "Epiphanies", but the abortion issue enabled…
raven wilder, you are clearly wrong here. There is an episode called "The Hand of God" in season 1. The title exists for a reason, because "god" or whatever it is that doesn't like to be called "g/God" is guiding Baltar's hand when he selects the target for the attack.
