Prometheus is the worst for this. Defenders of the dreadful plot and character work in that film always direct you to endless paragraphs of explanation and justification. As if the fact that needs to exist is anything other than a damning indictment of what actually made it onto the screen.
It's called Batman Vs Superman. People are going to watch it. I will if only because I'm genuinely intrigued to see Affleck in the role. He can't just play it like 'Ben Affleck' so how is he going to play it? That alone is worth the price of entry. I'm offended by the blatant attempt to cobble together a DCCU, but,…
You didn't see TDK at the cinema? But it was amazing.
BVS is the closest thing to a surefire hit that has ever existed. People may watch it for very different reasons, but we're *all* going to watch it.
Literally a tiny step beyond just writing "Ooh, Kevin Smith has cast some people in his new "movie", *that'll* be good, won't it?" Reads like a hipster Ann Coulter wrote it (I actually would like to see that.)
Is there a degree of cynicism in the choice of header image here, or am I reading too much in?
It's kind of an English thing as well. I suspect Neil Gaiman is to blame, somehow.
I dunno man, it sounds to me like the same piano but cut up to change the rhythm. Great song but it's way more derivative of Pyramid Song than that boob song that Pharrell made is of Marvin Gaye's stuff.
I get that "LOL DOUCHE ROBIN THICKE!1!" and everything but are we possibly being a tad too gleeful about what's essentially an awful piece of dangerous precedent setting copyright trolling?
It's actually Rosanna. She used to be Steven Tyler.
I believe what he actually said was…
He's also like coffee in the sense that he made his money appropriating black music then turned out to be a massive racist. Sorry, it's not coffee I'm thinking of. It's Eric Clapton.
Weirdly, it's the Dre produced tracks that drag Encore down. Mockingbird, Spend Some Time, Yellow Brick Road & One Shot 2 Shot are all great.
> TMP is DRASTICALLY different in tone from TOS
Well possibly, but I'm fairly sure Simon Pegg wasn't intentionally trying to seem heavy handed and preachy in order to satirise Christians, in Paul. It seemed more like he thought he was making a reasoned point with the walking strawman of a religious person that he wrote for Kristen Wiig. Remember when she's…
The good Star Trek films function really differently from the show. That's the issue with The Motion Picture: they tried to put the show on film. The first one to get it right was Wrath of Khan, which essentially turned it into a naval adventure in space. STID is an undercooked action film with a Star Trek theme.
It's a better action film than some of the Star Trek films, but it isn't a better Star Trek film than most of the Star Trek films. Star Trek done well is it's own thing. STID is bad Star Trek.
She could be Khan! (as much as Cumberbatch was anyway)
It was out of context, overstated and preachy.
