Millions of people get by with a sedan’s trunk every day, and in fact prefer them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Agreed- I would take the reduced view to not fitting, but I never ran into fitment issues like that when I had my WRXs (04 sedan, 11 hatch). I did sit in a new GTI recently but I haven’t test driven one.
I saw that, but is the VW counting space above the cargo cover? The Impreza hatch is listed at 22.5/52.4, so VW is probably using that space in their measurements. You could use that space, but you would completely lose rear visibility.
Is that podcast player crap or is it just me? It won’t let you fast forward to the 72 minute mark unless you buffer a few minutes at a time.
It just does not have the space for things like strollers or other large things

There’s a free online version of PowerPoint too.
Hey now - my x5 has stock air suspension!
I am a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE minivan hater. They are practical, but pretty much the worst driving vehicles on the road.
I’m still upset you guys followed by the embargo after writing this.
I actually went with a x5, but my wife has been looking at a x3 or a 535i.
Strange- I’ve shopped between the models at least 10 times in the last few years and every time I go between the two models I immediately notice the additional rear leg room. Maybe I’ll check again when I’m at CarMax this weekend.
Like I said, I know the specs are similar, but go sit in both of them back to back. The 5er has way more room.
In total volume yes they’re similar, but measure the distance between the front of the back seats and the front seats. The 5er has way more room available for adults. There’s 6"+ of additional wheel base room between the two models.
We only had that many adults in there when we had 3 couples going to an event together. We sold the van a while back, it was rather disappointing (although it really is the only small van available).
Yep the new Highlander Hybrid with captain’s chairs in the 2nd row is pretty awesome for a family.
The only issue I had with our Mazda5 was you cannot load it up with 6 adults. The rear suspension just cannot hold that much weight and it bottoms out on bumps in the road.
A 5-series is a much better choice for the rear leg room.
