Either way, they need to get from where they can afford to live to where they work.

Reads more like an indictment of douchebag truck people. Which I am fully on board with
In the US cities where the worst traffic jams are, most people actually live reasonably close to shopping, dining, and entertainment. These may not fulfill all their needs, but do fulfill most.
Agreed. But thats not who rivians are for. rivians are for suburbanites who think they “need” a Cummins to drive to the gym. The kind of people who think the mere accomplishment of owning a pickup makes them better than someone who owns a car. the kind of people that would love to own a Tesla, but could never be…
Says other person is engaging in a straw man argument. Immediately constructs a massive straw man argument.
For reals, have these poors just tried not being poor? It's so simple really
Nope.
Yeah, it’s the lazy poor.
It’s not even necessarily Trump apologists at times. The “suck it up and work, people don’t want to do hard jobs” idea is very deeply ingrained in American culture.
Your post reminds me that we still have Trump apologists on here.
You are a moron.
Ah, here we go, the classic blame the poor for being lazy. If it was as simple as “get a job for less money to make ends meet” then it would be a pretty easy problem to solve, wouldn’t it? Doesn’t seem to be the case, though. Can you think of some reasons why that might not be the greatest advice?
That still doesn't solve the issue of how they became homeless in the first part. Mental health and addiction are a huge part of the homeless problem, and until we take solving those issues seriously, free housing isn't going to solve much.
The guy who said that also wanted to expand social programs and work on social justice issues. His point was to have citizens contribute to building a better society alongside the government , not SHUT UP GO TO WORK AND MAKE THE KOCHS MONEY!!!! THEY DONATE!
yeah, they’re so miserable in Sweden, Norway, Germany, etc. etc. etc. I’ll note that they regularly scoff at American idiots who lie about how things are in other countries:
This makes me so fucking angry. There is literally enough money to just give a house to almost every single homeless person in this country, but we won’t do that because then they won’t have “earned” it. Nobody should have to “earn” the right to just fucking live in a basic amount of comfort. I’m not saying they need…
This is the fundamental argument of the right wing right now:
This is the fundamental argument of the left wing right now:
When every other modern country has gotten it under control, and we haven’t (and now we’re in the company of Brazil and Russia), you know we fucked up bad. America in its current condition is borderline failed state.
