The best Cars & Coffee mobile:

I feel like the Honda Element took this concept and got it right. The Element had a lot of the same functionality and features (right down to the removable center console cooler) but in a less alien-looking package. It was still weird, but weird in a way where you could look at it and it would make sense.

Not sure exactly what Torch is smoking today, but no; the Compass is not an SUV. It is a crossover.

They used to be called Off Road Vehicles, Four Wheel Drives [4WDs] or 4x4s [pronounced, Four by Fours]. What’s wrong with that?

Just leaving this here.

In the immortal words of Michael Bolton...

don’t forget the hottest new category - FHB  (Fat HatchBacks)

Nah, they had SUV first, they can keep it. Call the new things TSWs - Tall Station Wagons. I realize crossover exists, don’t care, TSWs.

This. I pay extra for higher coverage just for this reason. Yeah, I could get the bare minimum, but what happens when I get into an accident with a 2020 S Class? Or three or four cars are involved and I’m liable? I’m on the hook for whatever my cheap insurance doesn’t cover. And like you mentioned, god forbid there

I hope for your sake you don’t have real assets then.

I just want to say, I have LITERALLY seen a VW salesman do the “hang on the doors” thing. I was shopping for a GTI around 2010, and ended up at a VW dealership near Roswell, GA.

I know not everyone is “great” with finances but you can save yourself a LOT of money if you just save accordingly. If the extended warranty is going to cost you $3,000 and is for 2 years and unlimited miles, then your banking that your car will need more than $3k in repairs over two years. Thats $125/month.

If GM management could actually find anyone as sensible and knowledgeable as you in their product development ranks I’m sure they’d be fired within the week.

You know what I don’t need? Screens that stretch from pillar to pillar. There are a limited number of things I need to know while I’m driving. Speed, maybe the remaining range, and then the info about what song is playing, or what playlist I’m on.

Won’t be long once you awaken the sleeping giants.

“So its looking more and more like this thing is going to be Ford’s Wrangler.”

“Toyota Crap?”

This is an awesome DD. I’m seeing all this whining about mixed years and aftermarket parts, but I don’t care. This is a sub-20K car, if you like one thing from year X and another thing from year Y, this is the perfect car to mix them together.

If Ford undercuts the (ludicrous) sticker prices on the current Jeep lineup, they’re going to have a huge winner here.
