I didn’t say they did. I said that there actions of extending copyright have benefitted companies like the WB and that The Joker would have been in public domain already if not for their lobbying.

My favorite part is that he's too much of a fucking coward to just outright say he's transphobic. He has to dance around it and use dog whistles. Lmao typical bigot
Disney does not own the Joker “yet”. And that doesn’t matter, you asked for a court case, it was provided.
Also, earlier in the thread you asked if stealing is OK if people are rich... Rich people steal from the poor all the time!
Oh, you meant the other way around. Yeah. Robin Hood has been a folk hero archetype…
A lot of people throw around personal insults and harass others’ for their beliefs. The only thing this thread supports is that “those who champion diversity and inclusion” are capable of doing it. The assertion that this thread somehow proves that they’re categorically “the very first ones to start” is an abject…
We should all go to Sizzler tonight to honor him.
Why is it always those who champion diversity and inclusion who are the very first ones to start throwing around personal insults and harassing others for their beliefs?
cool cool; I’ll just reiterate that privilege is real, the existence of social-media-famous people is not indicative of a shift towards pure meritocracy in media and art, trans folks are marginalized (no scare quotes), and parody is fair use. surely this comment will survive.
I don’t consider it stealing. Stealing implies a loss. The WB/Discovery corporation loses nothing by this movie being made about an 84 year old character. So there is no theft.
lol if only there were receipts on all this; instead you deleted it all like an aggrieved little boy. pro tip: this victim mentality won’t get you far.
“everyone gets the same chance to speak up!” says the guy who dismisses every dissenting opinion
What I am saying is defending a 22 billion dollar companies IP rights from a tiny indy movie that is going to maybe make a million makes you sound like a corporate boot licker. I literally did not say a single thing about you or the WB being transphobic.
That boot must taste great
This guy definitely isn't transphobic
Not to mention how much of the literary canon is based on “intellectual theft.” Oral tradition, mythology, adaptation, tribute, satire, parody, pastiche, history, interpretation, sequel. Christ, Shakespeare would be torn to ribbons, not to mention Goethe and Beethoven. Artistic “intellectual property” is a social…
I would argue it very much does. But I also don’t like licking boots, so maybe we are just built different
Stealing a giant corporation’s overexposed character and getting away with it seems both quite daring, and like something The Joker would do (well, the 60's Joker, but still.)
parody is fair use, ya silly goose!
“surely the fact that some people are able to claw their way up from the bottom of the pile negates the idea that some people are born with a fast-track to the top. I’m quite smart!”
Won’t someone think of the shareholders?!
Super happy about how many people are going to be pissed off at this for even existing.
