It did try to destroy the key. It sank a sub in the Arctic. The movie was about finding the location of the sub. 

Yeah, and its not like it was some great secret that Touchstone was Disney in all but name.  

Yeah this whole story is weird in that it’s not new news at all.

Yeah, I’m not sure releasing six movies, three of them bad, and an atrocious holiday special over the course of 30 years puts Lucasfilm in a great position to argue batting average.

Disney above all else looks out for the brand.

Personally I’d ditch the Ripley’s daughter bit. I don’t think we need that kinda connection to the past. The Alien is enough.

I don’t know how people got the impression that he’s some uneducated mook that only makes gangster movies. He’s got intelligent things to say about Edith Wharton and one of his all time favorite movies is Tales of Hoffman. His movies are about lots of different people and ideas. 

This reminds me of the time I was on Jeopardy. I was there, to match my intellect, on national TV against a plumber and an architect, both with a Ph.D. I was tense, I was nervous. I guess it just wasn’t my night.

Scorcese doesn’t just make movies about Italian gangsters, you know. He’s made movies about such things as the Dalai Lama’s exile from Tibet and about Japanese cryptochristians. He’s a man of the world who is interested in all cultures.

this is the same Ridley Scott who made a movie about Noah teaming up with rock monsters

I wish the avclub would have leaned into the bit and have that Ray Greene guy review this.

Considering this is literally the first I’ve heard of this movie’s existence, I assume they will spend the next 10 months marketing it. Movies don’t usually appear in the theater as soon as they are complete.
