Everyone wants to keep it a secret, but the truth is that, minus the first episode, this season has been AMAZING.

No more delays. No more waiting. Neither space nor time nor crazy robot girlfriends could keep them apart for long but why risk it? They tried to do some world saving first and ended up with Fear dimension creeping in. So no more stalling.
They’re calling it a bottle episode because it has nothing to do with the conspiracy plot. It should be called a monster-of-the-week episode.
Thank you for bringing up Maximum Overdrive. The often overlooked slapstick horror of when AI attacks, soundtrack by ACDC which in itself is hilarious.
So, the episode confirms what we’ve always believed:
Once you knew? I figured you were supposed to know that was the inciting incident from the moment it happens. It’s not supposed to be a surprise.
i’m reminded of an episode of the twilight zone “invaders” starring agnes moorehead where she is in silent terror in her battle against what are beings from another planet whose sentience is belied by their toylike appearance. a precursor to the AI theme.
How about “The Birds” moment when he turns around to follow the single drone and sees the huge flock of drones in his room? The two things I love about Muls? He has the best reaction expressions and he bows to no one. Wham! Down it goes with swing of the bat. And Sculs with her lack of surprise saved a raised eyebrow…
Absolutely fantastic episode, even though it’s sort of one-note. Also, was that a really obscure Blade Runner reference in the altered Hopper painting in the café with the machines substituting the original people?
Yeah, in the beginning they were clearly planning to make Skinner a long-simmering villain who was secretly plotting with the Syndicate. That the X-Files showed its trial-and-error so plainly is one of the things that makes it so distinctly ‘90s (Lost is the last show that was really sloppy about poorly conceived…
The highlight of this episode for me was the Mud Lick sherrif. It’s been 11 seasons and 25 years, and this was the first time that one of the law enforcement characters on the show seemed plausible. He’s helpful to a couple of federal agents, asks and answers relevant questions, then calls them on their bullshit when…
Really interesting to see the story Skinner first told in “One Breath” fleshed out like that. He even gives much the same speech.
This might be the episode that really sold me on committing to this show. The world building is starting to pay off in a way that reminds me of The Wire, which also took a few episodes to click for me.
When they keep retconning the characters so hard there is no way to let character drive plot in a consistent way.
A nice scene with a character that has become one of my favorites: Toni reading Jughead’s story, recognizing it as a Lovecraft homage, and realizing that he actually wrote it on a typewriter (an insane thing to do), not coincidentally because a certain blonde ponytailed someone gave him a typewriter for XMas.
Yeah, it was a big old mess.
However, while I agree with LaToya that there’s no reason why Hiram should pay Fred’s medical bills, this comment kinda lost me:
“
Lovesick actually kind of fits the model you're looking for. At its center is another "will they/won't they," which at first revolves mostly around the main character, Dylan, but the focus grows more and more equally spread as the show goes on, giving Eve, Dylan's longtime best friend/crush, her own side of the…
I am a long-time reader of The AV Club and a very, very infrequent commenter (because I've never felt like I had anything of value to add to the conversation that I couldn't just add in a series of dramatic caps-locky expletive tweets) but as a huge huge huge huge romantic comedy freak and fan/former diehard fan of…
It's a UK romcom - watching it really reminded me a lot of being a teenager and watching the stylized, snarky Skins basically because now I was watching a grown-up version of that kind of show as a adult.
lovesick is definitely a romcom. just more on the snarky side than the sappy side.
