Probably 5 days a week I have a pot of black coffee and savory oatmeal with butter and salt and a splash of almond milk. It’s filling and satisfying and doesn’t take much thought or time to prepare. No one else in the house will touch it, either.

Ahem I have that one on my vehicle, my daughter bought it for me. It originally said “your stick family was delicious” but after a year I removed all the wording except for the word “delicious”. It definitely makes my 10 year old Highlander easier to find in a parking lot.

Fair enough! I work half a day on Saturday and am fairly new at a surprisingly busy one-person post office at Christmastime.  I originally had it scheduled for a Tuesday before work but they offered to give me both that day and I took advantage of the opportunity.

This sounds a lot like the fruitcake confection made by Harry & David that I used to send to my grandmother every Christmas, who hated traditional fruitcake but loved this one. What can I use if I don’t want to add alcohol?

Got my Pfizer booster and a flu shot last Saturday, giving myself a day to recuperate before work - only symptoms were a sore arm from the flu shot (had one in each arm). Vaccinated and feelin’ glad!

The Royal Riviera pears! I first tasted these as a child (grandparents got them as a gift), unbelievably meltingly sweet and juicy. A few years ago you could buy a box of “Maverick” (blemished) pears to send to yourself, they were discounted. No longer offered, alas :/

I too love listening to Freya, her vocal fry and expressiveness are hilarious. I think she’ll do well.  I’m also enchanted by Jurgen.

Ahem, there is no such thing as “too much” fried chicken.

Culver’s has a Flavor of the Day called Andes Mint Avalanche, which is “Andes Candies and novelty chocolate with our specially blended Mint Fresh Frozen Custard”, if you’re anywhere near one.

So is this supposed to be with sweet pickles, or dill pickles? I never eat PB&J sandwiches because they’re too “dessert-y”, and if I’m going to eat dessert it’s going to be something better than a PB&J sandwich. Inquiring minds want to know.

Y’know, I love watermelon and I love yellow mustard, but they don’t sound very good together. For a drab melon, I’ll take salt, Penzey’s Pico Fruta (ingredients: sugar, ancho chili pepper, cayenne, lemon peel, citric acid, salt & cilantro), or my fave, Li Hing powder.

Had a chicken/cranberry/blue cheese salad on curly endive (spiky and kinda bitter) that utterly destroyed me.  Pretty sure it was the endive.

I seared a pan full of salmon filets on Friday night. Just briefly turned them on their sides to brown/sear off the white goop leaking from the side - they were perfection.

I believe the “carrying something” danger. The last two times I sprained my ankle - fairly badly, the last one took me a year to fully recover from - it was while I was carrying a laundry basket down the stairs. A booby trap was involved.  Needless to say I no longer carry baskets down the stairs.

I thought this was going to be about that Upper Midwestern delight, grape salad!  Which I adore and am now going to seek out or prepare.

Boars Head, all the way. I’ve become a lunchmeat snob the last few years; since I have a sandwich for lunch almost every day, it’s important to me to have really good meat on my sandwich.

I finally broke down and bought one after 40+ years of cooking (I bake a lot, including with gluten free flours). It was about $11 at Walmart.  I freaking love it

Naw, it was sweet and crunchy and delicious. The disgusting was the creamed tuna w/chopped boiled eggs on toast, aptly nicknamed “Goo”.

I used to eat brown sugar out of the bag too, but that was because my mom kept all the sweets hidden in her room and sometimes you just gotta have something sweet...

We do it weekly, call it diner’s choice.
