Weird, I’ve always associated the term “poppers” with cheese stuffed jalapenos. Well, that and drugs. I’ve never heard breaded cheese sticks/bites called poppers before.

Yep, this is wonderful. Also, great to see big beauty brands getting behind this so that the clients can walk away with the products used on them! <3
This is the good news I’ve needed to read about today.
Jailing librarians. Let that one sink in.
“However, republican senators have rebuked the reports conclusion”
I kind of feel like the House rushed their investigation now; with Lev Parnas’ statements; we have just touched the tip if the iceberg. There is so much more evidence to uncover. I have no faith the senate will bother looking any further.
I have to admit the lowest and most predictable delight as this story keeps unfolding. It’s about the stupidest thing to get caught doing, and then every time they deny and double down...ah, sweet schadenfreud.
Correct answer: When the responding officer arrived at the scene, he took one look at Suzy and decided that based on her appearance she must have been asking for it. Based on this assumption, he never offered to collect a rape kit. He gathered no physical evidence, made one attempt to get a copy of the video from the…
There are so many possible test problems that could be written suitably for a high school (biology? criminology? What the hell was this class?) exam, without going to semen samples and rape.
I would love to read an article or something you write about this experience. I find myself knee-jerk disagreeing with that last sentiment, but as a black woman (assuming you’re not black, but open to being told otherwise, of course) the circumstance are different. I find that white people expect me to be aggressive,…
Not a good one.
As a Gen Xer from a super sexist household, these books appealed to me for all the wrong reasons. When my sister and I were “well-behaved” and did what our parents wanted, we didn’t really get any other attention. Our submissiveness was our value.
Thank you so much Kelly for writing about this! I’ve been following along on Twitter, and it’s been a shit show since day 1. I honestly don’t know how the RWA is going to survive this and suspect that it will have to close down soon.
Yeah, this was one of the best and most thorough rundowns of the whole controversy I’ve seen.
This was a very good read. Thank you, Kelly.
I love Milan and Cole both as humans and as authors. Thank you for unwinding all this madness, I was having a hard time following everything on Twitter.
We had the same conversation about consent with our son that we had with with our daughter. They learned early that they don’t have to give grandma a hug (mom, dad, anyone) if they don’t want to and that no one is entitled to anything to do with their bodies.
Right? My parents made damn sure my sister and I were sequestered from boys to the point I got grounded when one called me, thinking I was another girl in my class.
All you have to do is say: At your age, you’re going to have a lot of urges. You’re going to want to take off your clothes, and touch each other. But if you do touch each other, you WILL get chlamydia... and die.
“They’re just getting their periods, they’re just getting comfortable with making eye contact with a boy, let alone having any conversations,” one mother said.
