I’ve been saying this! I’d gladly take a PTO day and contribute my wages for the day to a fund to be distributed to women who don’t have access to PTO.

I posted on my facebook that I supported the people who chose to strike but that I was choosing not to, because at my particular job there is a lot of income/background disparity and I was concerned that all the white women would take the day off and all the POC would be at work (and based on the requests I’ve seen

Family values amirite

Fo’ reals. Like maybe if someone chooses to have a baby who they know will likely have downs syndrome, they might decide to spend a bit less money on a custom wall stencil, giant teddy bear, 67 piece stroller, etc and put a bit more aside for future healthcare needs.

I realize that border treatment for non-citizens has been awful for a long time, but I haven’t heard about a lot of cases where people were rejected entry like this. Are you saying this, specifically, has been a frequent occurence before now? Or just that border agents are assholes to non-citzens?

If contributions are not required, seems to be this could easily become a town hall he never planned on having.

They have to give some kind of justification for what made him seem like a threat. If we don’t demand that explanation then we’re giving up.

We have to amplify this shit because it’s so easy for it to get lost in the cacophony, but this is 100% illegal and we cannot let it stand. Let’s be loud.

I just have no idea what your two “points” have to do with each other.

I absolutely did not say that anyone who wants to work with kids is a pedophile.

I was specifically talking about professional gymnasts and their coaches. Read better. And also, for future reference, telling people to “stop making shit up to justify [their] damaged view of the world” does not jive with expressing sympathy for what may have happened to them.

Agreed. Patriarchal societal norms have a detrimental effect on children of all gender identities.

I disagree with you, but I understand where you are coming from.

Stereotyping....male doctors for female olympic gymnasts?

I don’t have a solution but tbh while I don’t see the merits of banning gymnastics I have zero problem with the concept of banning the type of gymnastic training for young girls described in this article.

I don’t remember proposing a solution. I just said this didn’t surprise me.

I fully admitted that my perception was colored by my discomfort of the way the (usually MUCH older, usually male) coaches interact with their (young, female) charges in public. Butt patting abounds, and it makes me uncomfortable 100% of the time.

You’re saying institutional coercion, fear, and excessive respect of authority are not tied to misogyny and patriarchy?

I can’t help but be like “You don’t SAY. A man who made his career in a field where he’d have lots of access to the bodies of underdeveloped little girls had untoward motivations?”

For reals, that is a thing someone wants to do? Do you have a source?
