Seriously though, this doesn’t surprise me. In sexual harassment prevention exercises, men and women will see the same scenario, but where women will rate a behavior as toxic, men will rate it not so great or tolerable.

I feel like I’ve been shouting into the void for years that a lot of these cultural touchstones for cool, hip youth (Vice, American Apparel, etc) are the same old toxic and misogynistic tropes wrapped up in a new aesthetic. I ran into a friend who works at UTA and I asked him about the Weinstein effect on his company.

They attribute the endemic sexism to “a) our ignorance, b) the inability to see the impact of our rapid growth, and c) the internal dysfunction that ensued”
