To me the worst thing execution-wise about RPO was (possibly, or honestly probably not) that every reference had to be explained in excruciating detail. Who do you think you wrote this fucking book for? No one who doesn't get the references would even consider reading it.

Let me provide an alternate take:
It was dogshit and Ernest Cline can suck a fuck

Possibly the worst thing to me: the hero's greatest dream is to take himself and his friends up in a spaceship loaded with all moves/music/video games/etc from the 80s (possibly from all time periods) and just fly around forever with nothing to do but play/watch everything uninterrupted. AND THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE

I started reading his book (Little Brother) because I had heard good things about it and quit in disgust within a few pages. It was unbearable. Ready Player One is about the only other book I didn't finish due to being pure dogshit, so the connection between the two is appropriate.

A fuckin Vince Vaughn movie indeed

Bless you for being the one to point out how this is total garbage

You are doing it wrong — you can't just make the reference, you also have to explain exactly where it comes from as if there is anyone reading your shitty book for any reason other than to bask in the warm glow of references to shit they like.

Or even the plural, LEGOS

In third grade I wrote a story about a kid getting sucked into Super Mario World — Ready Player One read like that except by a goddamn adult.

Yeah that is fair

I still think "time is a flat circle" is as goddamn stupid/meaningless as any dumb s2 line and don't know why it caught on.

But…who asked you to care who killed him? He isn't even a character; he was dead before the first scene. It's about what happens in the course of investigating etc. You can like the show or now, but I don't think that is meaningful criticism.

If there are certain things that are bad to see in the previews…don't watch them?

This was hilariously fantastic

Code for the racist asian eyes thing you do with your fingers

yes, he does a lot of great stuff

I don't understand this complaint on every GJI article. You saw the headline it told you what you are going to get - do you just feel compelled to click on every article regardless?

Auspicious start

In this scenario the kids come up with a tasteful, but obvious, hint to mom vis a vis bj for dad.

Invest wisely and in time get a matching second boot?
